THE STORY:
Descending from 70 rugged Native N. American heirloom Indian corns, Painted Mountain is a robust, multi-purpose, high-protein and highly nutritional food corn. Dave Christensen began its cultivation over 50 years ago, to feed his homesteader family in the challenging climates of Montana. The kernel’s soft starch grinds easily for fine-baking and the tenderest cornbread! Painted Mountain is known for fast maturity, resiliency in drought and recovery from climate stress. Its ancestors kept Montana homesteaders alive through The Great Drought & Depression of the 1930’s. This naturally diverse, open-pollinated corn can adapt to varied and changing climates. Small farmers, in the desert and mountainous regions of the world, grow Painted Mountain corn year after year.

The seed envelope is shipped in a USPS Large Envelope that are not trackable though the US postal services.
Postages cost for one 2.8 oz envelop is $2.47 anywhere in US.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS
Plant the kernels directly into a well prepared seedbed, May 15 or earlier (bred to recover from early frosts). Plant 1-3 inches deep & 10-12 inches apart within rows. Plant in a block for dependable pollination, away from other corns if you want to save your own seed. Corn needs full sunshine. Control weeds early. Depending on heat, corn dries in 90-110 days. Allow kernels to harden, and husks to dry completely, on the plants before picking. Harvest before a hard freeze.

RETURN AND REFUND POLICY
Return and Refund policy
Since seeds are a living thing, and we do not have control over the conditions that they are exposed to after they leave us and are therefore reluctant to take returns. We cannot take back seed packets that have been opened or are in anything but new condition. If you want to return seed packets that are in new, unopened condition, and the seeds were purchased less than 30 days ago, contact us, and we will review your issue and let you know if a refund is approvable or not. Once an approved return arrives back at our office, we will issue a refund for the purchase price excluding the original shipping. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
Damaged Items or Our Error
When your order arrives, inspect the envelop for any damage that may have occurred during shipment. It is normal for the envelope to show some wear, however, if damage occurred to the envelope during shipment or the order is incorrect, please contact us immediately so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Shipping policy: Our orders are shipped from the local US Post Office in Highwood, Montana. We normally ship out orders within 2-3 business day, and US Postal Services usually take 2-4 days. Please be aware that all orders are shipped as a USPS Large Envelope that are not trackable.
